Bringing downtown Barrie together through art.
Moving forward by supporting our community.

In this time of change locally and globally, art offers reflection and hope. Downtown
Barrie itself is in a moment of revitalization and recovery. Artists and writers have the ability to create meaningful experiences that help shape the distinct character of places. At a time when we need to pull together more than ever, an artistic collaboration combining original words with original paintings, made by locals for locals, aims to unite our community and remind us that we are truly stronger when we stand as Barrie Together.

The MacLaren Art Centre serves as the hub for this project. The poems on the
Mulcaster Street windows were written by past and present Poets Laureate of Barrie, Bruce Meyer and Victoria Butler. Their words were read and responded to by local artists Katie Green and Leandra Almeida. The selected words and images they inspired, have been installed throughout downtown Barrie. We encourage residents and visitors to take a stroll by these installations as they walk and patronize businesses
