Families of all ages are invited to make creative projects together as a family! During these short workshops, local artists will present you a variety of different and exciting mediums. The projects are designed for parents and caregivers to work in a collaborative way with their kids to make a piece of art – created together – to take home! Some projects will use special materials that are new to you and other projects will inspire new ways to use familiar materials that you may find in your cupboard or recycling bin at home. Join us for Sunday afternoons full of creative exploration!

Olga Hewett is a practicing artist, educator and creative director. She received her art degree from University of Northern Iowa with emphasis on painting and graphic design. While living in Toronto, Olga worked as a web designer and a creative director in the IT industry. After moving to Barrie in 2014, Olga opened a private art studio where she offers painting, drawing and mixed media art classes to both children and adults. Olga encourages creative self-expression while helping her students develop a strong belief in their abilities and an avid understanding of the importance of art in their lives. She believes that when it comes to art, the process matters more than the end result.
Parallel to running an art studio, Olga operates a web design business where she helps her clients establish a strong online presence that is both appealing and profitable.
Olga is very excited to be a part of the MacLaren Art Centre team as she continues to explore new ways to share her joy of artistic expression and creativity with the community.

Working predominantly with Analog Collage, artist, photographer, poet and curator Sheresha Mcintyre has
been able to express her take on many themes in each of her art disciplines. Themes such as fantasy presented in colourful conceptual abstract forms. Mcintyre takes influences from plants, nature, culture and her own imagination to show how they mimic our “reality”.
In 2020, Mcintyre was Awarded the #RisingYouth Community Service grant presented to her by TakingITGlobal n Toronto. She was able to curate her own art exhibit called Loose Ends which was held at The Art Gallery of Ontario (The AGO) located in Toronto. Her exhibit featured both her artwork and the artwork of other local Toronto visual artists.
Mcintyre aims to create an experience of oneness between her art and those that observe her work. This is in the hope that her art will inspire her observers to tap into the brightest, most exciting parts of themselves.

Katherine Fievet is a regional artist based in Alliston, Ontario. She has exhibited her work locally through a number of organizations. Her areas of focus are drawing and painting, which she studied at OCAD University. She has instructed through the South Simcoe Arts Council and is also an artist instructor at the MacLaren Art Centre.

Kim Brett is a practicing visual artist and educator from Simcoe County. She graduated from the Creative Arts program at Georgian College and earned her BFA at the University of Lethbridge, majoring in painting, drawing, printmaking and museum and gallery studies. Furthering her education, she studied painting at AUArts and pursued Communications and Media at the University of Calgary. Kim was honoured with the Fine Arts Graduate Scholarship at Georgian and the John Clark Scholarship in Art at UofL, which included a month-long artist residency at the Gushul Studio in the scenic Crowsnest Pass. Actively engaged in the local arts community, Kim has participated in numerous collaborations, both as a participant and organizer, contributing to events like Open Air Dunlop, Barrie’s Culture Days, Coldwater Steampunk Festival, and the South Simcoe Museum. She has taught printmaking at Georgian College and is currently an instructor at the MacLaren Art Centre.
Kim has exhibited her art across Canada and her works are held in private and corporate collections. She brings a colorful and energetic approach to her art, providing the foundation for developing engaging and experimental programming for her classes and workshops.
