For Toronto-based artist R.O.I Olou, the people and places of the city, along with elements of speculative fiction and popular culture, play a central role in shaping his artistic practice.

During this informal artist talk, he will introduce his chosen mediums and how they overlap and influence one another. Olou will outline how painting, animation, drawing, and pulp-painting pull him in different directions while still circling the same core questions, and how his multidisciplinary practice functions as a densely connected system rather than separate parts.

R.O.I Olou is a multidisciplinary artist who creates work that references personal experiences, ontology, and intuition, inspired by speculative fiction, science and popular culture.
