Female artists have long faced barriers to visibility, with their work appearing far less often in exhibitions and permanent collections than work by male artists. This imbalance continues to shape what we see in museums today. Georgian College Museum and Gallery Studies students Eden Cameron, Gabriela Ojeda Garrido, and Marissa Legrow lead a conversation that traces the critiques sparked by the feminist movements of the 1970s and considers how those urgencies still echo today. Drawing on works from the MacLaren Art Centre and Georgian College Collections, the panel will reflect on women as both makers and muses, and on the institutional habits that have kept their contributions at the margins.
