Portfolio 2025

Portfolio is an annual juried exhibition of works by graduating Grade 12 students and is an opportunity to highlight the accomplishments of these aspiring artists—drawing attention to the strong visual arts programs in Simcoe County high schools. Join us and celebrate their artistic achievements on Saturday, May 3 from 1 to 3 pm at the MacLaren Art Centre!

ANNOUNCEMENT: JURORS FOR PORTFOLIO 2025

The MacLaren Art Centre is excited to announce this year’s jurors for Portfolio 2025: MacLaren Curatorial Assistant Yasmeen Kazak and regional artist, poet and curator Sheresha Mcintyre! Portfolio is an annual youth exhibition showcasing the creative talents of graduating grade 12 students from across Simcoe County. The deadline for artwork submission is Monday, April 28 from 10 am to 5 pm, at the Gallery. All artworks must be submitted exhibition ready.

About the Portfolio 2025 Jurors

Yasmeen Kazak, MacLaren Curatorial Assistant
Sheresha Mcintyre, Regional artist

As Curatorial Assistant at the MacLaren Art Centre, Yasmeen Kazak supports the development and execution of exhibitions and helps manage the collection database. She has worked as Culture Assistant at the City of Barrie, which has included work for the First Floor Gallery; Assistant Archivist at the Georgian College Art Collection; and Gallery Assistant at The Campus Gallery. She is a graduate of the Museum and Gallery Studies program and the Advanced Fine Arts program at Georgian College. She has volunteered as a member of the MacLaren Art Centre’s Strategic Plan Steering Committee, the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s ART@RVH Committee, and the Ottawa Art Gallery’s Youth Council. Yasmeen is also a practicing artist.

Working predominantly with Analog Collage, artist, photographer, poet and curator Sheresha Mcintyre has been able to express her take on many themes in each of her art disciplines. Themes such as fantasy presented in colourful conceptual abstract forms. Mcintyre takes influences from plants, nature, culture and her own imagination to show how they mimic our “reality”.

In 2020, Mcintyre was Awarded the #RisingYouth Community Service grant presented to her by TakingITGlobal in Toronto. She was able to curate her own art exhibit called Loose Ends which was held at The Art Gallery of Ontario (The AGO) located in Toronto. Her exhibit featured both her artwork and the artwork of other local Toronto visual artists.
