Wind Rose

Joseph Drapell, Hudson's Bay, 1996, 2003.28.4

Wind Rose is the first exhibition in the Anchor Point series. A wind rose is a tool used to navigate the many directions and intensities of the wind at a particular location on a map. It is not only beautiful, but also useful. It is used to map the way forward within a changing and unpredictable environment.

Joseph Drapell’s painting, Hudson’s Bay, will anchor the exhibition. Between December 6, 2021 and January 31, 2022, the curatorial team will work with different members from the community to discuss and select the next work(s) to be added to the exhibition.

Watch the exhibition evolve in real time as we consider, select, and debate our choices together. Who knows—we may need to use a ‘lifeline’ and call on you to help us decide which work goes up next. Join us to discover the strengths and the weaknesses of the permanent collection and join the conversation as we begin to map our way forward.
