A big thank you to Regina Williams for her generous donation to the MacLaren Art Centre in support of the care and management of the permanent collection.
On August 7th and 8th, Regina hosted a studio sale of her art with all proceeds being donated to the MacLaren. Her gift will make a significant impact in our work as stewards of contemporary Canadian art and in our ability to bring the story of Canadian art to our community.
Regina’s relationship with the MacLaren is a long one dating back to the late 1990s when she began volunteering at the Maple Hill location. Regina has noted that her involvement with the MacLaren; attending artist talks and exhibition openings, in addition to her studies at Georgian College were integral to her evolution as an artist. She recently commented that, “Over the years the MacLaren has been an essential part of me being able to make important social connections with other artists and those interested in the arts, relationships that remain to this day.”
It is not just the MacLaren that has benefited from Regina’s generosity as she has donated innumerable artworks to the annual art auction fundraiser as well as provided works on loan to the Benefactor program. Today, in addition to her work being included in the MacLaren’s collection, her art hangs in the homes of many Barrie residents, bringing joy into the lives of all who encounter them.
We wish Regina all the best and are deeply grateful for her dedication to art and her years of unwavering support and friendship.
On behalf of the MacLaren Art Centre Board of Directors, Thank you!
