Wind it Up: The Pinwheel Project
July 10 to July 31, 2014
Rotary Education Centre and Kempenfest 2014
The MacLaren Art Centre is pleased to present Wind it Up: The Pinwheel Project, an exhibition of monumental pinwheels created by youth as a community arts project for Kempenfest 2014.
Led by regional artist Kirsty Wilson, participants in W-Edge, our free after-school drop-in art programme, produced monumental pinwheels with imaginative geometric painted designs, accentuating their patterned movement in space.
Participating youth include Nick Bissember, Evangelina Dold, Lyric Dubee, Tori Hathaway, Russell Jones, Sara Kelly, Charlotte Kurs, Nikole Langlois, Sarah LeBret, Serena Parsons, Natasha Pearson and Liam Stone.
On August 2 to 4, join us at The YMCA Children’s Village during Kempenfest, where families can work together in hands-on workshops to create unique small-scale versions!
The MacLaren Art Centre would like to thank the City of Barrie and the Optimist Club for their assistance in making this project possible, and TD Bank Group for their year-round support of W-Edge.
W-Edge is a free drop-in studio programme for youth ages 14 to 24, Wednesdays, 3:00 to 5:00 pm, from September through June. This programme takes place in the MacLaren Rotary Education Centre. Materials provided. Newcomers are always welcome!
