The Sarjeant Company Design Project 2017
April 22 to May 14, 2017
Molson Community Gallery
Reception: Thursday, May 4, 7 to 9 pm
Remarks: 7:15 pm

In workshops led by regional artist Bernadette Wells, students from Jean Vanier Catholic High School (Collingwood), Gravenhurst High School and Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School (Orillia) have created unique rotational designs. In addition to this exhibition of their artwork, three designs have been transferred to the drums of Sarjeant concrete trucks as a public art project and travelling exhibition.

Sixty-seven students from across Simcoe County participated in this project. Students were asked to create designs with a rotational composition and to consider images and text that would uniquely represent themselves and their school. The resulting exhibition displays their creative outcomes and varied approaches to this design challenge.

The MacLaren Art Centre and The Sarjeant Company would like to thank Mike MacMillan, IT Manager; Caitlin Erwin, Human Resources Assistant; Michelle Ollivierre, Sales Coordinator; Samantha Romanick, Fleet Administrator; and Emily McKibbon, MacLaren Associate Curator, who assisted with the selection of images. A special thanks to Scott Elliott for making this project possible and to art teachers Marchesa Balloi-Paget, Sue Buckingham and Mary Anne Cipp and their students for their participation in this project.
