Community and Youth Exhibition
Sensory Exploration Arts Exhibition
June 12 to 24, 2015
Rotary Education Centre
The MacLaren Art Centre and DeafBlind Ontario Services are proud to present Sensory Exploration Arts Exhibition, a showcase of art created by artists in the Sensory Exploration Arts Programme hosted by the MacLaren. This monthly programme, led by DeafBlind Ontario staff, offers engaging arts experiences for those who live with deafblindness and various sensory impairments.
Community Services—Sensory Exploration Arts (SEATM) was created by DeafBlind Ontario Services in 2010 to foster artistic expression among individuals with sensory impairments. This stimulating and collaborative programme has exposed the benefits of sensory expression in individuals who may not have engaged with visual arts or viewed themselves as an artist before.
In these monthly workshops, SEATM artists explore and experience themes through their senses; they are then given the opportunity to express their responses to these sensory experiences through visual art, music, drama and dance. Participants include clients of DeafBlind Ontario Services, as well as other community agencies supporting individuals with physical, cognitive or sensory impairments.
