This presentation of portraits by senior Canadian artist Michael Merrill builds on the theme of life stories. Merrill’s raw, energetic drawings from the late 1970s and early 1980s reveal various states of consciousness ranging from anger to confusion to vulnerability. These works from the MacLaren’s collection are part of Merrill’s ongoing inquiry into identity and the artistic self.
