Emotional Landscapes
February 3 to March 4, 2018
Rotary Education Centre
Presented in Partnership with Brain Injury Services Muskoka Simcoe

The MacLaren Art Centre is pleased to present Emotional Landscapes, an exhibition of paintings created by adult members from Brain Injury Services Muskoka Simcoe. The artworks on display explore watercolour painting that represents thoughtful reflection, mood and creative experimentation with watercolour materials and techniques.

As part of VanGo Access, the Education Officer led a half-day workshop to adults at Brain Injury Services in Barrie. Inspired by Governor General award-winning artist Landon Mackenzie’s works on paper, participants explored a varied approach to watercolour painting. They responded to regional geography, maps and personal experience—layering drawn and painted marks to create a vibrantly abstract and unique works of art. For many of these participants, opportunities for artistic expression are few and far between.

Special thanks to Jeremy Vos, Rehabilitation Counselor at BIS, for making the workshop possible. Appreciation is also extended to the adults who participated in this special project.
