Still Life Drawing

Learn Pencil Drawing Fundamentals from local artist Kim Brett. Using the measuring method, you’ll find shapes in complex forms, learn to see as an Artist who can transform the 3D world around us into a 2D drawing. You’ll learn about composition, do some perspective work, and play with light and shadow as you draw what’s before you. You’ll get to draw in the galleries, exploring the current exhibition, Structural Integrity & Homage, on paper. No previous experience necessary – just come with a desire to draw!

Description

Kim Brett

Kim Brett is a practicing visual artist and educator from Simcoe County. She graduated from the Creative Arts program at Georgian College and earned her BFA at the University of Lethbridge, majoring in painting, drawing, printmaking and museum and gallery studies. Furthering her education, she studied painting at AUArts and pursued Communications and Media at the University of Calgary. Kim was honoured with the Fine Arts Graduate Scholarship at Georgian and the John Clark Scholarship in Art at UofL, which included a month-long artist residency at the Gushul Studio in the scenic Crowsnest Pass. Actively engaged in the local arts community, Kim has participated in numerous collaborations, both as a participant and organizer, contributing to events like Open Air Dunlop, Barrie’s Culture Days, Coldwater Steampunk Festival, and the South Simcoe Museum. She has taught printmaking at Georgian College and is currently an instructor at the MacLaren Art Centre. 
 
Kim has exhibited her art across Canada and her works are held in private and corporate collections. She brings a colorful and energetic approach to her art, providing the foundation for developing engaging and experimental programming for her classes and workshops.
