In conjunction with exhibition Kazuo Nakamura: Blue Reflections, Canadian-born, Brooklyn-based artist Rachel MacFarlane will guide participants to create an abstracted painting based on a personal landscape using a process that evokes Nakamura’s relationship to mapping, nature, and atmospheric color. This master class will be a two-step process—from drawing to painting in either acrylics or oils. In addition, the history of Nakamura’s artwork will be discussed, as well as the relationship of form to abstraction and the mathematics of a picture plane. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore and experiment with restricted colour palettes. Suitable for all levels of experience.

Please note: participants will need to pick up their materials kit and sign up for Zoom in advance. A link will be provided by email prior to start of the master class.
