Benefit under the guidance of regional artist Jeff Nye and take your art practice to new dimensions! Join us for a full-day of exploring drawing and stop-motion animation. Using a variety of traditional techniques and approaches, participants will work together to create a large-scale charcoal drawing. Jeff Nye will demonstrate documentation techniques and the process of transforming the drawing into an animated short film. Beginner and intermediate levels of experience are welcome.

Jeff Nye is an artist, writer, teacher and curator based in Newmarket, Ontario. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with Distinction from Concordia University in Montreal (1998) and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Regina (2007). His paintings and multi-media installations have been shown in galleries across the country, including his solo exhibition “Recovery Rooms” at the Varley Art Gallery of Markham (2016). His work is in the permanent collections of the Saskatchewan Arts Board and the University of Regina. Jeff has curated exhibitions for the Mackenzie Art Gallery (Regina, SK), Dunlop Art Gallery (Regina, SK), Last Mountain Lake Cultural Centre (Regina Beach, SK), and the Ottawa Art Gallery (Ottawa, ON). Jeff has also instructed studio and art history classes at the First Nations University of Canada and the University of Regina. He currently teaches courses in studio art and museum studies at Georgian College (Barrie, ON). He has received several distinctions and awards for his work, including grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
