Krapanka: Ukrainian Easter Egg Decorating

$18.00$20.00

Date: Saturday, April 8, 2023
Time: 1:00 – 3:00pm
Ages: 6 to 12 years old

Get creative this Easter! Join regional artist Mariya Blyznyuk and explore Krapanka (from the Ukrainian word krapka – “point”) or kapanka—one of the four main types, and oldest way, of decorating Easter eggs! The word itself is a derivative of the Ukrainian word “clap” – “drip”. The drawing consists of many-coloured dots on a background of different colors. Traditionally, three colours were used, but now artists use as many colours as they wish. Participants will be guided to explore different decorating techniques using plastic and boiled eggs. Register early as spots are limited!

Mariya Blyznyuk is Ukrainian Canadian Artist, Member of The Barrie Art Club and the Federation of Canadian Artists. In 2007, Mariya came to Canada and settled in Newmarket, Ontario. She had organized and owns The Green Lion Arts Studio for children and adults, teaching painting, graphics and illustrations. Her favorite art technique is painting with a palette knife.

Mariya is a regular participant of many exhibitions, art events, and fairs. She actively works and conducts many master classes in Canada and in Europe. Today, she actively helps and takes part in supporting Ukraine and the Ukrainian people; talking about Ukrainian culture, traditions and values.
