Rotary Education Centre, main level
On the last Wednesday of the month, bring your friends to the MacLaren to enjoy a hearty art party! In this new series of workshops for adults, a different regional artist takes over the MacLaren Education Centre to lead you in the creation of a project based on their area of expertise. Every month is a new and exciting experience! Pair your art-making session with pizza, a quesadilla or samosas and a glass of wine purchased from our fully licensed Café to create the perfect evening. Beginner and intermediate levels of experience are welcome.
Join regional artist Kim Brett for a hands-on art party, exploring colourful and unique monotype processes. Participants will begin with a lively lesson on how to apply resists, textures, subtractive processes and more to their Plexiglas plates. The remainder of the session will be filled with creative fun: laying down inks and overlapping colours to create a print that’s completely unique. By the end of the session, everyone will have made a hand-printed piece of artwork on paper that’s ready to take home!
ARTIST BIO:
Kim Brett graduated from the Fine Arts program at Georgian College and completed her BFA at the University of Lethbridge. She further studied Painting at ACADU. Her art examines our shared experiences of form and colour in relation to consumable objects, and considers the marks made by the artist’s hand in contrast to the precision of digital and technological processes. Kim has participated in exhibitions throughout Ontario and Alberta. She also works as an art educator and creative consultant.
