I thoroughly enjoyed the Rachel MacFarlane class. She was a passionate and knowledgeable instructor who guided us step by step, in the virtual space that we were using, allowing us to explore her directives uniquely according to our own personal creativity styles. I really enjoyed moving away from our original picture and will definitely try this in my artwork again in the future. The three hours were calm, inspiring, and fun, and I enjoyed the conversation and sharing by our group. Thank you so much for offering for this opportunity to explore different art techniques – especially when we are stuck at home because of the pandemic.
Rachel’s class was a great success because it combined a well thought out directive for devising a composition with the opportunity for students to apply their own interpretations and preferences.
There was a brief introduction to Nakamura’s work, to Rachel’s work; a demo with accompanying images of what each stage of the making process might look like; and plenty of time for questions and conversations and interaction. The workshop was organized yet relaxed!
I really enjoyed spending Saturday’s class with Rachel MacFarlane and also with the other participants. Rachel was so well prepared and explained her process clearly. I enjoyed using my own image for the painting and actually making a plan before jumping into the work. I plan to use some of her suggestions in the future. Thanks Rachel!
