Special NFB Screenings
1:10 to 1:30 pm, Rotary Education Centre
Admission free. Registration required.

Meltdown (1 minute)
In this short animation by Carrie Mombourquette, a polar bear must try his luck finding a job in the big city when the last of his Arctic ice environment disappears. It’s hard fitting into the human world, however, so this bear finds a more creative solution to his predicament. This film was made as part of the 8th edition of the NFB’s Hothouse apprenticeship.

It’s Snow (5 minutes)
This colour cut-out animation by Gayle Thomas is inspired by the shape of snowflakes and touched with the airy magic of these fragile designs. While music tinkles invitingly, snowflakes roll and whirl, pulse and glitter, shining with the many hues of twinkling lights. Made without words, this is a joyous film to please the fancy and captivate eye and ear.

Ludovic: The Snow Gift (14 minutes)
In this animated short by Co Hoedeman, Ludovic the bear learns the meaning of friendship while evoking our memories of cherished childhood toys. Often left out of the winter fun because his parents deem him too young, Ludovic finally finds a playmate when a giant snowstorm strands a doll on his front lawn. He spends all his time with his new doll, which miraculously comes to life and provides him with the companionship he’d been longing for.
