Jean Giguère: The Measure of a Place by Deco Dawson, 2014, 6 mins.
This short film profiles Jean Giguère, a lifelong volunteer and champion for the arts. Giguère expresses the transformative power of the arts in our society and its enrichment of place.

Distant Islands by Bettina Maylone, 1981, 6 mins.
This short animation uses appliqué and embroidered tapestries to recall a young girl’s happy summers spent sailing with her family off the coast of British Columbia.

Tzaritza by Theodore Ushev, 2006, 6 mins.
This animated short by Theodore Ushev combines warmth, humour and magic in a story about a young girl who misses her grandmother. When Lili finds a tzaritza (magic shell) along the seashore, she hatches a plan to bring her Grandma from Bulgaria to Montreal to make her father happy. Part of the Talespinners collection, the film features music by Normand Roger.

Here and There by Diane Obomsawin, 2006, 9 mins.
In this animated short, filmmaker Diane Obomsawin shows how childhood can be a chaotic time, especially if you’re bouncing back and forth between two continents.

Mindscape by Jacques Drouin, 1976, 7 mins.
This pinscreen animation shows an artist stepping inside his own painting to wander about in a landscape peopled with symbols that trigger unexpected associations.
