Thursday, March 11, 2021 marked the one-year anniversary since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. In a display of solidarity, 20 health organizations across the province asked the public to remember those who have died from the virus by lighting a candle to honour their memory.

The MacLaren Art Centre is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life at Roberta Place long term care home. Our hearts go out to the individuals and families affected by their passing, and our gratitude and appreciation go out to all those brave individuals who are on the front lines working through this unprecedented global health crisis.

We have opted to express our condolences with a candlelight vigil set up in our Massie Family Courtyard. The video is meant to honour and remember all the lives lost at Roberta Place, as well as countless others in Canada and around the world who have died from Covid-19.

The video has been included in Wintertide, so that others in our community can pay tribute, and reflect on the hope that lies ahead.
