Erin Vincent

tint test

2026
acrylic
12 x 9 in

Value: $2000
Starting Bid: $1000

Artist Statement

A series of repeated gestures yields intricate surfaces in Erin Vincent’s sculptural work – they are actions specific to a chosen material, whether tissue paper, tongue depressors, pins, or other massed-produced materials easily sourced in a global marketplace. This work is a buildup of one color using pre-mixed abandoned paints, sourced from the clearance shelves of hardware stores. The object ubiquity of the individual elements, which one might expect to be emphasized by sheer volume employed, is instead overwhelmed by a surge of “likeness” that transforms as an animate continuum, in some measure organic in feel, the result of a kind of reverse-manufacturing.

Artist Biography

Erin Vincent is a Toronto-based sculptor whose work investigates materiality, labour, and perception. She works intuitively across multiple projects, using mass-produced and overlooked materials such as bristles, straight pins, tar paper, and plastic sheeting. Through slow, repetitive processes, she transforms everyday objects into immersive sculptural surfaces that challenge assumptions about value, utility, and form. Vincent’s practice emphasizes tactile engagement and accessibility, often inviting viewers to interact with the work in unexpected ways. As a sculpture and installation instructor, she brings her process-driven approach to the classroom, encouraging material experimentation and conceptual risk. Her work creates spaces that are accessible, empathetic, and physically engaging; offering viewers an invitation to slow down and look closely.
