Join us for entertaining and insightful readings from regional authors Anna Yin, Vanessa Shields and Nalini Warriar. With a focus on life stories, these authors provide a personal exploration on culture, history and memory. Vanessa Shields will be reading from her book of poetry I Am That Woman and a new manuscript of poetry entitled What's Left of Me. Nalini Warriar will be reading excerpts from Enemy Within and Blues from the Malabar Coast. Anna Yin will read selections from Wings Toward Sunlight, Inhaling the Silence, and from her forthcoming book Seven Nights with the Chinese Zodiac.

About the Authors:

Anna Yin has published five poetry books and won a Ted Plantos Memorial Award (2005), two MARTY awards and 2013 a Professional Achievement Award from CPAC. A finalist for RBC’s Top 25 Canadian Immigrants Award in 2011/2012, she is currently an Ontario Representative for the League of Canadian Poets.

In between losing and finding her creative mind, Vanessa Shields writes both poetry and prose from her heart. Her book of poetry, I Am That Woman (Black Moss Press, 2013) is selling well and making people laugh and blush, mostly simultaneously. She lives and writes in Windsor, Ontario, with her family she adores.

Nalini Warriar was a molecular biologist before she turned to writing. She is the author of the award winning collection of short stories, Blues from the Malabar Coast, published by TSAR Publications in 2002. Her novel, The Enemy Within, appeared in 2005. After almost three decades in Quebec, she now lives in Ontario. She has just finished her latest novel.

Organized by author and former Poet Laureate of Barrie Bruce Meyer, and Linda Laforge.
