Exhibiting Artists Talk by Colin Randell, Dwayne Todd and Craig Stephenson

Craig Stephenson is a Barrie artist who celebrates political and humanitarian figures that he feels have more relevance than ever in the post-911 world where war is legitimized and material values cloud our way to elevated progress.  This is all done in the medium of sketch.
Stephenson feels privileged to be a part of a global movement where common people throughout the world are stepping forward and leading lives of fulfillment, taking back the Earth from those who would destroy it, defining their own struggles free of manipulation.  Time itself, and the ideas of men and women, are the transcendent agents in the quest for global justice. This is Craig Stephenson’s fourth Gifts in Shadow event, and feels honoured to take part in it as a survivour.

Dwayne Todd is a First Nations person. He was diagnosed with Schizophrenia at age 21.  Now, 32, he believes in the benefit of creativity in the form of pen and ink drawing and at times latex acrylic painting.  Dwayne Todd challenges himself to become a better artist, but also enjoys time with friends and family.  His art is in the pursuit of reaching a deeper meaning and welcomes new interpretations.
Colin Randell was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario in 1975.  From an early age, creativity was encouraged as his parents dabbled in the arts. In school, art was the favourite class in which Colin and his friends traded homemade comics in between classes. Today, he continues to draw and paint on a daily basis, recently completing a series of colourful paintings.  His focus is on dreams and the darker side of existence, illustrating the figures which may inhabit both.  Things that lurk in the shadows are his favourite subject.  A new interest in pen and ink drawings are his current focus, as he seeks a career working as an illustrator and fine artist.
