Wednesdays are for art with an edge! Guided by regional artist Sean George, this drop-in art programme is designed to offer like-minded youth a place to meet and be creative. Spend art-filled afternoons exploring contemporary art and ideas in a variety of engaging materials and techniques, culminating in a group exhibition this spring at the Gallery.
Sean George is an artist and art educator. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, raised in Trinidad, WI, Vancouver and Toronto. From 1995-2010 Sean worked at the Vancouver Art Gallery in Public Programs and Education. This afforded him the opportunity to work first hand with some of the latest contemporary and historical art in Canada. In 2010 Sean had his first solo exhibit at the Grunt Gallery in Vancouver, this critically acclaimed exhibit became the catalyst for Sean to come to Ontario and focus more energy into his studio practice. He works primarily in photo-based media and is always looking to push his practice in new directions. Since arriving in Ontario, Sean has received three Ontario Arts Council grants which has allowed him to work on independent community projects. More than making art, Sean loves to share his passion for it with others.
