Join regional artist Lois Green to learn drawing techniques that will boost your portfolio submission. This course includes eight life-drawing sessions. In addition, participants will learn effective ways to discuss their artwork as well as experiment with various drawing media and acquire knowledge of Design Principles. The MacLaren Art Centre is extending an invitation to youth across Simcoe County to participate in a special workshop led by the Z'otz* Collective.
Youth ages 13 and older will work collaboratively with the Z'otz* Collective during and engaging full-day workshop exploring elements of narrative through cultural symbols and personal experience. The participants finished artwork will be on display in the MacLaren's Rotary Education Centre from March 8 to April 1. This workshop is open to all youth: no art experience is necessary. Space is limited so register early!

In these two half-day workshops, join renowned Cartoonist/Illustrator Bob Kain as he leads the aspiring comic in the exploration of ideas and techniques. Learn how to generate unique concepts, combine words and cartoon pictures to produce a short storyboard.

Portfolio provides an exceptional opportunity to showcase the creative talent of youth in Simcoe County. 2012 marks the 21st year of Portfolio.
This year, Portfolio will be on display in the Gallery’s Carnegie Room from April 26 through May 20 with a special opening reception on Thursday, May 3 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm for students, their parents and teachers, and community members.
