The Barrie Learning Centre, The MacLarenArtCentre and Friends of The Travelling Wave, an artist collective for peace, are pleased to invite you to participate in The Question of Peace , a juried exhibition of videos gathered from across Simcoe County and around the world, which will be on view at the Molson Community Gallery, May 13 to June 13, 2010 at the MacLarenArtCentre in downtown Barrie, Ontario. In conjunction with the exhibition, Turkish artist Reha Bilir will lead a workshop at TGIF on May 21.

Call for Submissions: We are inviting youth from across Simcoe County, and around the world, to contribute a short video documenting their responses to the question of peace and the possibility for peaceful coexistence. These video responses will be selected by a youth jury from the Alliston Learning Centre on Monday April 5, 2010. The finalists will be notified by email. The chosen video artworks will be uploaded to a blog for online public view, and on display as part of The Question of Peace exhibition.

Peace has been an elusive ideal. Most of us find it difficult to imagine what peaceful coexistence might look like, might feel like, and how it might affect our daily lives. How to live together peaceably requires greater imaginative resources to be resolved.

The goal of this call is to provide a forum where young adults in particular, local and international, can share their thoughts and ideas, thus continuing the age-old dialogue around the question of peace long after the exhibition is over.

Submission Guidelines:
·          All submissions are due by email on Thursday, April 1, 2010.
·          Videos must be at maximum 2 minutes in duration.
·          All video responses must be sent by email to: peacequestion1@gmail.com

For complete details about the video submission and helpful questions to consider, please see the attachment below.

This exhibition will bring to light the views of young people in particular, on the roadblocks and paths to peaceful coexistence. We look forward to hearing what questions and issues young adults choose to address in their video responses.
We encourage your participation in this project!
