Now is the perfect time to book VanGo for your students!
The MacLaren Art Centre is the regional public art gallery serving Barrie, the County of Simcoe and the surrounding area. It is also the home of VanGo, the Gallery's signature programme in the schools. Developed to enhance the Ontario Visual Arts Curriculum, this award-winning programme brings professional artists into the school classroom to deliver visual art experiences for grades K to 8 that are accessible, educational and appealing.
This year, the VanGo team is excited to introduce a Primary level painting programme inspired by Indigenous Australian dot painting. Two new Junior level programmes have also been developed exploring mandala art and book-making. Intermediate-level students will explore eco-conscious paper-making and a collagraph printmaking programme inspired by regional Indigenous artist Norval Morrisseau. With a roster of over 25 engaging studio options, these unique programmes meet Ontario Arts Curriculum standards in dynamic and engaging ways!
Why not consider booking a VanGo programme at your school or at the Gallery? VanGo Gallery includes a field-trip to the MacLaren that begins with an exhibition tour and is followed by an art programme of your choice. To book VanGo at your school or VanGo Gallery, please contact the MacLaren Education Assistant at (705) 720-1044 ext. 232 or email@example.com
The MacLaren Art Centre and the VanGo team looks forward to bringing art to your school next year!

The aim of the MacLaren Art Centre is to encourage an awareness and understanding of visual arts and visual culture throughout the region. Education provides a vital link between the community and the Gallery; it supports the activation of the collection and exhibitions by engaging the hearts, minds and hands of people of all ages. Art education is about understanding and making art, but it is also so much more. The benefits that art brings to the development of key life skills include motivation, discipline, cooperation, self-esteem and self-confidence. Students who are regularly engaged in the arts become greater learners and thinkers in all areas of education. The MacLaren Art Centre provides a platform in which these skills can be explored while enhancing the Ontario Visual Arts Curriculum both in our Gallery and in the classroom.
