The Great Canadiana Poster Challenge

How would you illustrate your favourite moment in Canadian history? In honour of Canada’s sesquicentennial, the MacLaren invites Simcoe County elementary students to submit original poster art describing a key event in Canada’s history.

A jury comprised of arts professionals will choose up to twenty-five posters for a summer group exhibition from June 26 to August 27, 2017 in the MacLaren’s Rotary Education Centre! Prizes will be awarded to the top three poster art designs. Images of the winning artworks will be shared on MacLaren social media sites.

Teachers: This poster challenge is a great complement to the Social Studies, History and Geography curriculum. We hope that you will share this art challenge with your students!

Here's How to Submit to the Great Canadiana Poster Challenge:

  • The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 5, 2017 by 5:00 pm
  • Each poster must be an original artwork on 11 x 17 paper
  • On the back of each poster, please label student’s name, grade level, teacher, school name and address
  • Teachers are responsible to pick up student artwork not selected for this exhibition on Monday, June 19 by 5:00 pm. The MacLaren Art Centre is not responsible for artworks left on the premises after that time
  • Exhibited artworks must be picked up at the MacLaren between August 28 and September 10, 2017

We look forward to your school’s poster submissions!
