Please bring a peanut-free lunch and snacks for morning and afternoon nutrition breaks. Become a Friend of the MacLaren and receive a 10% discount on fees.
About the instructor: Teresa Moore was introduced to Ikebana in 1991, her first time living in Japan. Upon returning 20 years later, she was able to complete her 4th level Sogetsu Teachers certificate in Tokyo. The practice of Ikebana has instilled not only an appreciation for the nature of materials, but also an appreciation of the space between. The sensibilities and stillness of Ikebana are prevalent in Teresa’s art practice. Tensions between ephemeral and permanent, spiritual and physical, continually intrigue her. Teresa often casts the gaze on self as she explores the female form. While in Barrie, Ontario, Teresa studied with the School of Design and Visual Art at Georgian College. Moving between Ikebana, site installation incorporating light and shadow, and painting with oils, Teresa brings together her eastern and western experiences, peering through the lens of one to the other.
