The MacLarenArtCentre is Simcoe County's regional public art gallery, housed in an award-winning 24,000 square-foot facility in the heart of downtown Barrie. The MacLaren is the cultural focus of one of Canada's fastest-growing and youngest cities. The Centre's mission is to engage and enrich the immediate and larger community by providing innovative, relevant and accessible programming. In its multiple galleries, the MacLaren presents a year-round programme of local, regional, national and international exhibitions, in addition to an ongoing programme of sited-works across the city of Barrie. The MacLaren maintains a permanent collection that represents visual culture in Canada with an emphasis on contemporary as well as historical art. A dynamic education programme of tours, workshops, lectures and panel discussions animates the exhibitions. Art classes for children and adults, childrenís camps, youth activities, student and community exhibitions, as well as outreach programmes in the schools and in the community, foster an understanding and appreciation of the visual arts.
Thank you for your interest in the MacLaren.
